African swine fever
1. Two Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Domestic Pigs Reported in Nepal
On November 24, Nepal reported two outbreaks of African swine fever in domestic pigs in Lumbini District, with 102 pigs infected and 98 deaths.
2. Six outbreaks of African swine fever in wild pigs and eight in domestic pigs have been reported in Romania.
On November 24, Romania reported six outbreaks of African swine fever in wild pigs and eight in domestic pigs across five counties, including Călărași County. Ten wild pigs were infected and died, 766 domestic pigs were infected, 18 died, and 26 were culled.
3. Seven Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Wild Boars Reported in Estonia
On November 25 and 27, Estonia reported seven outbreaks of African swine fever in wild pigs in four locations, including West County, resulting in the infection and death of nine wild pigs.
4. Sixteen Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Wild Boars Reported in Hungary
On November 25, Hungary reported 16 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild pigs across four regions, including Pest County, resulting in the infection and death of 16 wild pigs.
5. Bulgaria Reports 177 Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Wild Boars
On November 25, Bulgaria reported 177 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild pigs across seven regions, including Burgas Province, resulting in the infection and death of 257 wild pigs.
6. One outbreak of African swine fever in domestic pigs reported in Moldova
On November 26, Moldova reported an outbreak of African swine fever in domestic pigs in the Ocnița District, resulting in the death of one infected pig.
7. Thirteen Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Wild Boars Reported in Italy
On November 26, Italy reported 13 cases of African swine fever in wild boars in the Tuscany region, resulting in the death of 13 infected animals.
8. Two Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Wild Boars in Ukraine
On November 27 and 28, Ukraine reported two outbreaks of African swine fever in wild pigs in Ternopil Oblast and another region, resulting in the death of three infected wild pigs.
9. Two Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Wild Boars Reported in Spain
On November 28, Spain reported two outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boar in the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, resulting in the death of two infected animals.
10. Seventy-five African swine fever outbreaks in wild pigs reported in Poland
On November 28, Poland reported 75 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boars across seven regions, including Podlaskie Province, resulting in the infection and death of 97 wild boars.
Avian influenza
1. Sixteen outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and three in wild birds have been reported in Canada.
On November 24 and 28, Canada reported 16 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry and 3 in wild birds across four provinces, including British Columbia and Alberta. A total of 30,000 poultry were infected and died, 563,000 were culled, 113 wild and free-range poultry were infected, 111 died, and 36 were culled.
2. Italy has reported 19 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and 6 outbreaks in poultry.
On November 28, Italy reported 19 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and 6 in poultry across four regions, including Friuli-Venezia Giulia. A total of 51 wild birds were infected and died, 237,000 poultry were infected, 7,050 died, and 64,000 were culled.
3. One outbreak of H5 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds has been reported in Norway.
On November 24, Norway reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5 subtype avian influenza in wild birds in Agder County, resulting in the death of one infected wild bird.
4. Germany has reported 170 outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds and 9 outbreaks in poultry.
On November 24 and 26, Germany reported 170 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and 9 outbreaks in poultry across three regions, including Schleswig-Holstein. A total of 198 wild and free-range poultry were infected, with 186 deaths and 52 culls; 49,000 poultry were infected, with 185 deaths and 28,000 culls.
5. Eight Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Austria
On November 24 and 26, Austria reported eight outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in three regions, including Carinthia, resulting in the infection and death of 16 wild and free-range poultry.
6. Two outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and five in wild birds have been reported in Poland.
On November 24, 25, and 28, Poland reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry and five in wild birds in four regions, including Opole Voivodeship. A total of 29,000 poultry were infected, with 2,997 deaths; 105 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected, with 50 deaths.
7. One outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry has been reported in Ireland.
On November 24, Ireland reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry in County Louth, resulting in the infection and death of 280 birds.
8. One outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and one in poultry have been reported in Portugal.
On November 24, Portugal reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and one in poultry in two districts, including the Santarém District. A total of 21 wild and free-range poultry were infected, with 6 deaths and 64 culls; 4,013 poultry were infected, with 231 deaths and 17,000 culls.
9. Two Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Slovakia
On November 24, Slovakia reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in Bratislava Region and another locality, resulting in the death of two infected wild birds.
10. Sixty-nine outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds and 13 in poultry have been reported in the United Kingdom.
On November 24, 26, and 28, the United Kingdom reported 69 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and 13 outbreaks in poultry across three regions, including England. A total of 203 wild and free-range poultry were infected, with 177 deaths and 36 culls; 19,000 poultry were infected, with 2,200 deaths and 120,000 culls.
11. Six outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and 30 in wild birds have been reported in Belgium.
On November 24 and 25, Belgium reported six outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry and 30 outbreaks in wild birds in two regions, including the Flemish Region. A total of 215,000 poultry were infected, 536 died, 215,000 were culled, and 34 wild birds were infected and died.
12. One outbreak of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and three outbreaks in wild birds have been reported in Denmark.
On November 24 and 28, Denmark reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry and three outbreaks in wild birds in three locations, including the city of Viborg. A total of 1,375 poultry were infected and died, 8,176 were culled, and four wild birds were infected and died.
13. Four Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Sweden
On November 24 and 27, Sweden reported four outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in three locations, including the city of Falkenberg, resulting in the infection and death of four wild birds.
14. Two Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Slovenia
On November 24 and 25, Slovenia reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in two locations, including the Osrednjeslovenska Region, resulting in the death of two infected wild birds.
15. Five outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and one in domestic poultry have been reported in the Czech Republic.
On November 24, 25, and 28, the Czech Republic reported five outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and one outbreak in domestic poultry in five locations, including the Olomouc Region. A total of 40 wild and free-range domestic birds were infected and died; 115 were culled; 17 domestic birds were infected and died; and 3,776 were culled.
16. Finland Reports Nine Outbreaks of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Wild Birds
On November 24 and 25, Finland reported nine outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in three areas, including the Ostrobothnia region, resulting in the infection and death of 13 wild birds.
17. One outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds has occurred in Hungary.
On November 24, Hungary reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in Nógrád County, resulting in the death of one infected wild bird.
18. Six Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Latvia
On November 24, Latvia reported six outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in two locations, including the city of Viesīte, resulting in the death of six infected wild birds.
19. Forty-nine outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry have been reported in the Netherlands.
On November 25 and 26, the Netherlands reported 49 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and 1 outbreak in domestic poultry across five regions, including Utrecht Province. A total of 87 wild birds were infected and died, 20 domestic poultry were infected with 16 deaths, and 71 were culled.
20. France has reported 45 outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and 95 in wild birds.
On November 26, 27, and 28, France reported 45 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry and 95 in wild birds across eight departments, including the Deux-Sèvres department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. A total of 1,238 poultry were infected and died, 89,000 were culled, and 155 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected and died.
21. Two Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Switzerland
On November 27, Switzerland reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in two regions, including the Canton of Lucerne, resulting in the infection and death of six wild birds.
22. One outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds has been reported in Lithuania.
On November 28, Lithuania reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza subtype H5N1 in wild birds in Vilnius County, resulting in the death of one infected wild bird.
23. One outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry has been reported in Bulgaria.
On November 28, Bulgaria reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry in Plovdiv Province, with 20 birds infected.
24. Eight Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Spain
On November 28, Spain reported eight outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds across four regions, including the Autonomous Community of Galicia, resulting in the infection and death of 20 wild birds.
Other Animal Epidemics
1. Sixteen Outbreaks of Rift Valley Fever in Senegal
On November 24, Senegal reported 16 outbreaks of Rift Valley fever in five districts, including the Kaffrine Region, affecting 22 sheep and goats.
2. Four Newcastle Disease Outbreaks in Poland
On November 24 and 25, Poland reported four outbreaks of Newcastle disease in two regions, including the Greater Poland Voivodeship, resulting in infection of 204,000 poultry, 2,306 deaths, and the culling of 67,000 birds.
3. One rabies outbreak reported in Armenia
On November 24, Armenia reported an outbreak of rabies in Tavush Province, resulting in the death of a domestic dog.
4. One West Nile fever outbreak reported in Cyprus
On November 26, Cyprus reported an outbreak of West Nile fever in the Paphos District, with one wild bird infected and subsequently dying.
5. Fifty-one outbreaks of Bluetongue Serotype 3 have occurred in the United Kingdom.
On November 24 and 28, the United Kingdom reported 51 outbreaks of Bluetongue serotype 3 in England, with 180 cattle infected and 1 death.
6. Three Bluetongue Outbreaks in Italy
On November 24 and 28, Italy reported three outbreaks of bluetongue disease—one involving serotype 8 and two involving serotype 5—in two regions, including the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, resulting in 41 infected sheep and 27 deaths.
7. Twenty-three outbreaks of bluetongue disease have occurred in Greece.
On November 24 and 28, Greece reported a total of 23 bluetongue outbreaks—22 involving serotype 8 and 1 involving serotype 4—in four locations, including the Ionian Islands, resulting in infection of 742 sheep and goats and the death of 418.
8. One outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 4 has occurred in Cyprus.
On November 26, Cyprus reported an outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 4 in the Limassol District, with one sheep infected.
9. Eight Outbreaks of Bluetongue Serotype 3 in Morocco
On November 28, Morocco reported eight outbreaks of Bluetongue serotype 3 in two regions—Eastern Region and Meknes-Tafilalet Region—resulting in infection in 22 sheep and the death of six.
10. One outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 8 has occurred in Slovenia.
On November 28, Slovenia reported an outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 8 in the Osrednjeslovenska Region, with two cattle infected.
11. One outbreak of lumpy skin disease has occurred in France.
On November 27, France reported an outbreak of lumpy skin disease in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of the Occitanie region, with two cattle infected.
12. One outbreak of echinococcosis has occurred in Cyprus.
On November 26, Cyprus reported an outbreak of echinococcosis in the Limassol District, resulting in the death of one wild mouflon.
13. Two Outbreaks of Equine Infectious Anemia in Chile
On November 26, Chile reported two outbreaks of equine infectious anemia in the Coquimbo Region, resulting in the culling of three infected horses.
14. One outbreak of rabbit hemorrhagic disease reported in Norway
On November 28, Norway reported an outbreak of rabbit hemorrhagic disease in Rogaland County, resulting in the death of two domestic rabbits.
15. Two Outbreaks of Peste des Petits Ruminants in Vietnam
On November 28, Vietnam reported two outbreaks of peste des petits ruminants in Dong Nai Province and another locality, with two goats infected.
