[Information Sharing] Report on Major Animal Epidemics Nationwide in October 2024

In October 2024, a total of 23 major animal epidemics of Categories I, II, and III were reported nationwide, affecting 100,152 animals (heads/birds/individuals/horses) and resulting in 11,318 deaths. Among these, one Category I epidemic was reported, involving two affected animals with no fatalities; 15 Category II epidemics were reported, affecting 27,512 animals and causing 3,919 deaths, with porcine epidemic diarrhea, brucellosis, and duck plague accounting for the top three in terms of reported cases, together representing 86.79% of all Category II epidemic reports; and seven Category III epidemics were reported, affecting 72,638 animals and resulting in 7,399 deaths, with coccidiosis in chickens, swine influenza, and pasteurellosis ranking as the top three in terms of reported cases, collectively accounting for 97.57% of all Category III epidemic reports.
