African swine fever
1. Five Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Wild Boars Reported in Hungary
On November 17 and 19, Hungary reported five outbreaks of African swine fever in wild pigs in four locations, including Hajdú-Bihar County, resulting in the infection and death of five wild pigs.
2. One outbreak of African swine fever in wild pigs has been reported in Ukraine.
On November 17, Ukraine reported an outbreak of African swine fever in wild pigs in Ternopil Oblast, resulting in the infection and death of seven wild pigs.
3. Twenty-one African swine fever outbreaks in wild pigs reported in Estonia
On November 17, 18, and 20, Estonia reported 21 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boars in three locations, including Rapla County, resulting in the infection and death of 37 wild boars.
4. Twenty Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Wild Boars Reported in Croatia
On November 18, Croatia reported 20 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boar in Osijek-Baranja County, resulting in the infection and death of 24 wild boar.
5. One outbreak of African swine fever in wild pigs and two outbreaks in domestic pigs have been reported in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On November 19, Bosnia and Herzegovina reported one outbreak of African swine fever in wild pigs and two outbreaks in domestic pigs in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and another locality. One wild pig was infected and died, five domestic pigs were infected—three died, and two were culled.
6. One outbreak of African swine fever in wild pigs has been reported in Moldova.
On November 19, Moldova reported an outbreak of African swine fever in wild pigs in the Cimișlia District, resulting in the death of one infected wild pig.
7. Five Outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Domestic Pigs Reported in Serbia
On November 20, Serbia reported five outbreaks of African swine fever in domestic pigs in Mačva District, with seven infected pigs, five deaths, and 10 pigs culled.
8. Two outbreaks of African swine fever in domestic pigs reported in South Africa
On November 21, South Africa reported two outbreaks of African swine fever in domestic pigs in KwaZulu-Natal Province and another region, resulting in 87 infected pigs and 78 deaths.
Avian influenza
1. Seven outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and two in wild birds have been reported in the United States.
On November 17, the United States reported seven outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry and two in wild birds across six locations, including California. A total of 26,000 poultry were infected and died, 568,000 were culled, 18 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected and died, and 59 were culled.
2. Four outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza have been reported in poultry and four in wild birds in Canada.
On November 17, Canada reported four outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and four in wild birds across four regions, including British Columbia. A total of 8,755 poultry were infected and died, 340,000 were culled, 89 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected and died, and 51 were culled.
3. Ten outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and 50 in wild birds have been reported in the United Kingdom.
On November 17 and 21, the United Kingdom reported 10 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry and 50 in wild birds across three regions, including England. A total of 6,686 poultry were infected, with 3,020 deaths; 103 wild birds and free-range poultry were infected, resulting in 95 deaths.
4. Two outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and five in wild birds have been reported in Denmark.
On November 17, 19, and 20, Denmark reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry and five in wild birds in six locations, including the city of Viborg. A total of 275 poultry were infected and died, 6,200 were culled, and five wild birds were infected and died.
5. Belgium has reported 19 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and 1 outbreak in poultry.
On November 17, Belgium reported 19 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds and one outbreak in poultry in two regions, including the Flemish Region. A total of 29 wild birds were infected and died, 58,000 poultry were infected, 150 died, and 58,000 were culled.
6. Four Outbreaks of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Poultry Reported in France
On November 17, France reported four outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry in two areas, including the Vendée department in the Pays de la Loire region, resulting in the infection and death of 31 birds.
7. Thirty-five outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry have occurred in Germany.
On November 17, 20, and 21, Germany reported 35 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry in five regions, including North Rhine-Westphalia, resulting in 1,906 infected birds, 1,681 deaths, and the culling of 388,000 birds.
8. Two Outbreaks of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Poultry Reported in the Czech Republic
On November 17 and 19, the Czech Republic reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry in the South Bohemian Region, resulting in the infection and death of 132 birds.
9. Two Outbreaks of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Poultry Reported in Portugal
On November 17 and 19, Portugal reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry in the Porto District and another locality, resulting in 5,512 infected birds, 5,510 deaths, and the culling of 33,000 birds.
10. Four Outbreaks of H5N1 Subtype Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Poultry Reported in the Netherlands
On November 17 and 18, the Netherlands reported four outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry in three regions, including North Holland Province, resulting in 361 infected birds, 165 deaths, and the culling of 228,000 birds.
11. Thirteen Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Poultry Reported in Nigeria
On November 17, Nigeria reported 13 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry in Taraba State, with 549 infected birds, 279 deaths, and 270 birds culled.
12. Two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds have occurred in Luxembourg.
On November 18, Luxembourg reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in the Luxembourg District, resulting in the death of two infected wild birds.
13. One outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds has been reported in Norway.
On November 19, Norway reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza subtype H5N1 in wild birds in Sør-Trøndelag County, resulting in the death of one infected wild bird.
14. One outbreak of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and three outbreaks in wild birds have been reported in Austria.
On November 19 and 21, Austria reported one outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry and three outbreaks in wild birds in Lower Austria and another region. A total of 50 poultry were infected and died, 39 wild and free-range poultry were infected, 35 died, and 144 were culled.
15. One outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N9 avian influenza in wild birds has been reported in South Korea.
On November 19, South Korea reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N9 avian influenza in wild birds in North Jeolla Province, resulting in the death of one infected wild bird.
16. Four Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Latvia
On November 19, Latvia reported four outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in three locations, including the city of Ventspils, resulting in the infection and death of 64 wild and free-range poultry.
17. Switzerland Reports Two Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds
On November 19, Switzerland reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in two locations, including the canton of Thurgau, resulting in the death of four infected wild birds.
18. Seven Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Finland
On November 20, Finland reported seven outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in two areas, including the Ostrobothnia region, resulting in the infection and death of 14 wild birds.
19. Twenty-two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds have occurred in Spain.
On November 21, Spain reported 22 outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds across five regions, including the Autonomous Community of Galicia, resulting in the infection and death of 73 wild and free-range poultry.
20. Four Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Ireland
On November 21, Ireland reported four outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in three locations, including County Cork, resulting in the infection and death of 11 wild birds.
21. Four outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds and one in domestic poultry have occurred in South Africa.
On November 21, South Africa reported four outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds and one outbreak in domestic poultry in Limpopo Province and another location, resulting in infection of 88 wild and free-range poultry, with 72 deaths and a total of 130 infected and dead poultry.
22. Two Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic H5N1 Avian Influenza in Wild Birds Reported in Lithuania
On November 21, Lithuania reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in wild birds in two locations, including Tauragė County, resulting in the death of two infected wild birds.
Other Animal Epidemics
1. Two Outbreaks of Sheep Pox in Romania
On November 17 and 20, Romania reported two outbreaks of sheep pox in Dolj County and another locality, affecting 194 sheep and resulting in 17 deaths.
2. Three Outbreaks of Sheep Pox in Bulgaria
On November 18 and 19, Bulgaria reported three outbreaks of sheep pox in Plovdiv Province, affecting 35 sheep.
3. One outbreak of ovine epididymitis has occurred in Romania.
On November 17, Romania reported an outbreak of epididymitis in sheep in Dambovita County, with six sheep infected and two deaths.
4. Nine Rabies Outbreaks in East Timor
On November 17, Timor-Leste reported nine rabies outbreaks in three districts, including Manufahi District, resulting in the deaths of 12 domestic dogs.
5. Nineteen Bluetongue Outbreaks in the United Kingdom
On November 17 and 21, the United Kingdom reported 19 outbreaks of bluetongue disease in England—18 involving serotype 3 and 1 involving serotype 8—resulting in infection in 46 cattle.
6. Three Outbreaks of Bluetongue Serotype 3 in Morocco
On November 17, Morocco reported three outbreaks of Bluetongue serotype 3 in two regions, including the Greater Casablanca Region, resulting in infection in 11 sheep and the death of 4.
7. Five Bluetongue Outbreaks in Greece
On November 18, Greece reported five outbreaks of bluetongue disease—one involving serotype 3 and four involving serotype 8—in four locations, including the regional unit of Messinia, resulting in infection in 18 sheep and the death of 10.
8. One outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 8 has occurred in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On November 19, Bosnia and Herzegovina reported an outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 8 in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, resulting in the infection and death of 24 sheep.
9. Twenty Outbreaks of Bluetongue Virus Serotype 5 in Italy
On November 19, Italy reported 20 outbreaks of Bluetongue virus serotype 5 in the Sardinia region, with 247 sheep infected and 167 deaths.
10. One outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 8 has occurred in Serbia.
On November 20, Serbia reported an outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 8 in Raška District, affecting one cattle.
11. Five Outbreaks of Bluetongue Serotype 3 in Poland
On November 21, Poland reported five outbreaks of Bluetongue virus serotype 3 in three regions, including the Greater Poland Voivodeship, affecting 11 cattle.
12. One outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 4 reported in Bulgaria
On November 21, Bulgaria reported an outbreak of Bluetongue serotype 4 in Gabrovo Province, resulting in the culling of one wild red deer infected with the disease.
13. Three outbreaks of nodular dermatosis have occurred in France.
On November 18 and 21, France reported three outbreaks of lumpy skin disease in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of the Occitanie region, affecting three cattle.
14. Fifty-three Outbreaks of Rift Valley Fever in Senegal
On November 18, Senegal reported 53 outbreaks of Rift Valley fever in four districts, including Louga Region, with 2 cattle and 92 sheep infected.
15. One outbreak of Rift Valley fever occurred in South Africa.
On November 18, South Africa reported an outbreak of Rift Valley fever in the Northern Cape Province, resulting in the infection and death of 40 sheep.
16. An outbreak of leishmaniasis has occurred in Romania.
On November 19, Romania reported an outbreak of leishmaniasis in Bucharest, involving one domestic dog.
17. Two Outbreaks of Newcastle Disease in Poland
On November 20, Poland reported two outbreaks of Newcastle disease in Opole Province and another region, resulting in infection of 203,000 poultry and the death of 4,705.
18. Three Outbreaks of Equine Infectious Anemia in Chile
On November 20, Chile reported three outbreaks of equine infectious anemia in two regions, including the Maule Region, affecting three horses.
19. One outbreak of equine piroplasmosis occurred in Luxembourg.
On November 20, Luxembourg reported an outbreak of equine piroplasmosis in the Luxembourg District, with one horse infected.
20. One outbreak of infectious laryngotracheitis in poultry has occurred in Thailand.
On November 21, Thailand reported an outbreak of infectious laryngotracheitis in poultry in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, with two poultry infected and one death.
21. Four Outbreaks of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Eswatini
On November 17, Eswatini reported four outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease—one involving the SAT2 serotype and three involving the SAT1 serotype—in two districts, including Lubombo District. A total of 1,176 cattle and 24 domestic pigs were infected, with 14 domestic pigs succumbing to the disease.
22. Fourteen Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreaks in South Africa
On November 14, South Africa reported one outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease caused by the SAT1 serotype and 13 outbreaks caused by the SAT2 serotype, totaling 14 outbreaks in four areas including KwaZulu-Natal Province, with 78 cattle infected.
23. One outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease has occurred in Turkey.
On November 21, Turkey reported an outbreak of unspecified foot-and-mouth disease in Bilecik Province, affecting five cattle.
