Good News! Another Stem Cell Clinical Research Project Has Been Approved by the National Health Commission
On October 20, 2021, the prospective, randomized, controlled clinical study titled “Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers with Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cell Injection,” submitted by President Jin Peisheng and his team at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University, successfully passed the filing and approval process of the National Health Commission. This marks the first stem cell–based research project for the treatment of diabetic foot to be approved nationwide. Currently, all preparatory work is complete, and the study plans to enroll 60 patients with diabetic foot to receive free umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell therapy.
Every human being begins as a fertilized egg about 0.5 millimeters in size and gradually develops into a complex, intricate body composed of roughly 60 trillion cells spanning more than 200 different cell types. On average, about 150 million red blood cells die each day, and 30,000 skin cells shed every minute; in adults, the skeletal system is completely renewed every 7 to 10 years. All of these processes rely on stem cells differentiating into new cells to replenish the lost or aged ones. In essence, Our growth and development, as well as our metabolism, can only proceed normally thanks to the presence of stem cells.
